I have been an educator and working musician all of my adult (and some of my teenage!) life, currently I am the music teacher at Summerhill, and have worked here since 2014. I earned a living playing music from my late teens and 20's, always teaching as a side. Over time this developed and I have been involved in a wide variety of teaching projects; from providing a program for excluded and at risk children in East Anglia, working with kids from care homes and serving as a director on a company developing advocacy services via music workshops. In contrast I have provided workshops and privately tutored young musicians of the highest level, preparing them for entrance into conservatoire and working as musicians in the most demanding sectors of the profession. I have always been keen to bring what I learned from the latter into the former, to enrich the musical experience of those for whom real musical provision is absent. After delivering a few one off workshops as a visiting tutor I took over the role of peripatetic music tutor in 2014. Initially on one day a week this grew and grew and in the end it made sense to move in and become a full time staff!
