Zosia Grudzińska

I first read the "Summerhill" book at a tender age of 18, straight out of a very "regular" school in a communist Poland, to boot. The idea that education could be so different, so tremendously free - that was an epiphany. But it wasn't until I went into teaching, some twenty years later, when I fully appreciated what Neill's ideas mean for the whole world. Since then, I am working hard to bring at least some democratic education principles into a mainstream school. My dream is to see all children experiencing the joy of being appreciated as "just persons" and allowed to stay free while learning to live in a harmonious community. (Currently spreading the word by co-translating Derry Hannam's book, "Another Way is possible", into Polish...)
