We offer an “Introduction to Astronomy” course for students in Class 1 and Class 2. While the younger groups are investigating the motion of the Earth, the Moon and the Sun, the older students asked to dive directly into stars, constellations and galaxies. During lessons, we mix theory, outdoor observations and experiments, and the using of software and apps to observe the sky at different times and places. The course is also a transdisciplinary one. During their investigations, Class 1 students are also developing mathematical skills related to measurements, tables and graphs, for example. Class 2 students are learning about ratio, proportion and scales when they investigate the size of the stars and the distances between them. Myths and cultural differences also appear constantly when we explore how different civilisations interpreted what they saw in the sky.
